The age of reincarnation anime has just blossomed, and starting to take shape. This is mainly due to stories that are written with overpowered main characters/ (OP MCs) for short, which lacks in character progression/ doesn’t show how the character levels up/ gets stronger to where he is at. However, adding in character progression means that more anime episodes must be included/ more manga series has to be drawn. Among all of those reincarnation animes that are out there, Mushoku Tensei piques the interest of anime viewers, and therefore, here is an honest review about the anime after watching it. We will try our best to include any spoilers for this anime, and will also give you insight on the technicalities of the anime, and probably appreciate the content more.
Art and Animations
There are multiple aspects of the animation which I like. Firstly, attention to detail was hugely emphasized. There were multiple scenes where there were extra details such as the heat waves, the outline shadows, the lighting of the anime. Next, this anime carries a large amount of fan service, where panties, and breast groping are drawn in details. That might be a reason why this anime is welcoming a second season.
The lighting effect of the anime showing darkness and heat very well.
^ Lots of fan service. (Targeted for males)
Transitions and Effects
Voice acting and Background Sound/ Music
There are no major flaws in the Voice acting and the Background sounds of the anime. They are rather smooth, despite some repetitions in the ost in the background. However, most of the Background Sounds and Music are very repetitive. Much more could be done to improve the Background Sounds of the Anime to make it stand out from the regular ones, and we shall not criticize it any further.
Storylines and Plot
Following the isekai genre of animes, this anime is very similar, showing us how the main protagonist has godly powers from a young age, he retains memories of his previous life when he is born as a baby in this new world, and thus it benefits him since young. However, this anime doesn’t show us how overpowered the Main protagonist is, in fact, they shows us how much potential he has. This allows us to also follow up on the protagonist growth throughout the anime, and how he has improved through the years since the time when he was born. This anime succeeds in giving us the realism feels of when some one reincarnates into another world, filled with swords and dragons. In terms of storyline, it has faired rather well, and we would be looking forward to the second season of the anime said to release on fall 2021. Hope you guys watch the anime.
Battle game in 5 Seconds, Hepburn: Deatte Go-byō de Batoru. Is a Summer 2021 anime, first aired on the 13 July. This anime is also the talk of many, and received lots of attention, being aired through Muse Communication on YouTube, along with Netflix (Other anime sites do apply as well). However, is this anime overated or not?
Watching and analysing the anime closely, here are some thoughts you can first consider before watching the anime/ recommending it to your friend and family.
The storyline of this Anime is fairly good, and most parts of the Anime have a great link with each other, making you as the viewer understand and enjoy every part of the story. That being said, as the Anime’s storyline is fairly simple, animators were able to easily animate this series, not needing to spend so much time trying to build up invisible links throughout the anime. The animators however didn’t decide to stop there. They did spend lots of effort trying to improve on the backstory of anime characters, and most of the anime characters have their own backstory, leading to why their actions in certain parts of the anime.
This anime is rather similar to the anime, “Death note”/ “Code geass”, where the protagonist of the story was given powers that is powerful enough in its own way, needing the protagonist to compliment this power in some way, or it will be deemed entirely useless. This of course means that the rule on “with power comes responsibility” is adhered, unlike other OP mc animes. This anime also features how the protagonist of the story constantly experiments with his powers, which also makes him a better user of his given powers. However, unlike death note which strongly emphasizes the genius of protagonist, this Anime focuses more on the action scenes of the protagonist. It hooks/catches the viewers attention making themselves think of the endless possibilities on how the protagonist powers can be used.
The storyline of the Anime is a good enough reason to watch and recommend the anime to your friends and families.
Transitioning and Artworks
The artworks for “Battle game in 5 seconds” are well drawn, and there were no major flaws in the artworks. The uses of color in the anime is great beyond recognition. The colors of the different anime environments along with the different tone of colors/ shadow, helps to express the vibe and atmosphere of the place. If their were to be certain aspects the animators could improve on, it would be the use of more after effects/CGI, which can make the anime easier to animate, along with making it cooler, especially during fights.
Sound effects, voice acting and background music
The sound effects of this anime, along with the voice acting of this anime is constantly on point, and the anime adapts the great use of background sounds in different scenes of the anime: example, birds chirping in a forest. The great attention on small details such as this, makes the Anime of a higher quality, giving it a better standing on our list. Adding to that, the background music/ orchestral music behind some fighting scenes gives the added thrill to certain anime scenes. All the sounds, background noises and the voice acting nicely compliments each other, making it sound clean, and uncluttered.
Overall, although this anime is gaining attention, the anime truly deserves it, and we think that it might even in fact be slightly under-rated. Readers, please do recommend this anime to more people, and give this anime more attention that it needs. For if you haven’t watched this anime, you are recommended to watch it.😆 For anime related content, please do subscribe, and support us with your likes.
There is a huge increase in the number of Isekai Animes, and hype for this anime genre isn’t slowing down too. In fact, there are various other mangas that falls under the Isekai genre, and have yet taken flight. I have read and watched multiple Isekai based animes, and here are the Top 10, best isekai animes of all time which will give you a great experience.
10) Wise Man’s Grandchild
Before the arrival of the anime: “My hero Academia”, this anime was the rising star of Isekai, bringing in a new concept of anime, where the main character dies on earth, and is brought to another world, remembering who he was, and how he died. Released on spring 2019, this anime is packed with Action, humor, where the protagonist uses his knowledge on earth to earn him powers that are unmatched like no other.
9) The Saga of Tanya the Evil
The main protagonist of the anime is an elite Salary man based in Japan. After deciding to fire one of the company’s employees, he gets murdered and is sent to an isekai world by “Being X”. Forcing the protagonist to believe in god, Tanya is placed into multiple dire situations and is constantly rebelling against “Being X”. Tanya, constantly fighting for her survival is forced into the military out of choice, and rises the ranks when fighting a war. This anime is one of the “must watch” anime’s for any Otakus out there.
8) How Not to Summon a Demon Lord
How not to summon a demon lord (Hepburn: Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo No Dorei Majutsu) is definitely an isekai anime catered towards Males… Featuring the male OP protagonist, Sakamoto Takuma. Being summoned into an isekai world, with the body of his gaming character and crazily overpowered stats, he helps to solve the problems of the two mages that summoned him. Blasting his way through any obstacles, he is practically unstoppable.
This anime has countless “ero” scenes and is definitely a fun and hilarious anime to watch. Definitely a great anime to test if he has a dirty mind😁.
7) Arifureta Shokugyou De Sekai Saikyou
Arifureta Shokugyou De Sekai Saikyou is an isekai anime where the protagonist “Hajime Nagumo” along with his class is summoned into a fantasy world. Unlike conventional isekai anime, the protagonist does not have godly powers from the beginning, and the anime features his character development before he became OP. Being sabotaged once, the protagonist is constantly placed in “life-or-death” situations and adapts a very cautious and distrusts almost anyone around him. Season 2 of the anime is said to air on January, 2022, definitely a must watch for fellow otaku peeps.
6) No Game no Life
“An anime that definitely will make you laugh.” This anime features Sora and Shiro whom where the main characters of the story. The siblings are shut in’s/ hikikomori, and both of them have terrible social anxiety. However, the two siblings are Genius Level prodigies. One example was Shiro (younger sister of Shiro) being able to memorize all the different variations in a chess game, treating it like a simple game of tik-tack-toe. When transported into another world, which governs based on “game like betting rules”, the duo (a.k.a. blank) which have never lost in their life learns and progresses their journey from being in the worst/ lowest possible position. The anime has a popularity rating of 13, based on MAL, and one otaku should have already watched it, maybe even twice.
5) That time I got reincarnated as a Slime
That time I got reincarnated as a Slime, (Hepburn: Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken) is first aired on the Autumn of 2018, the anime then got popular after its release of the second season when it was recently aired on the Winter of 2021. The anime first features a virgin male protagonist which is murdered and thus sent to another world/ isekai after his death. He is reincarnated as a slime with godly powers. Being in the new world as a slime, he aims to build a city where humans, demons and monsters can live harmoniously together. When watching the anime, there were also certain scenes that makes one emotional. For the great plot and animation, it therefore is ranked fifth in the list.
Overlord is one of the anime’s where we get to see the true antagonist as the protagonist of the story. As the demon lord was human that is trapped in a game, he is a true demon lord with the heart of a human. The anime then shows us how he uses his overpowered stats in his gaming account to his benefits as a demon lord. From manipulating the hearts of the masses, and threatening the lives of humans doing bad deeds(e.g. murder, rape, torture, slavery). He shows no signs of the devil, and works more like a law enforcer. He does this in hopes to gain reputation, hoping that somebody could bring him/ “rescue” him out from the game. When watching overlord, I do not recommend skipping the previous seasons, and to watch the anime from the beginning sequentially.
3) Re: zero
Have you ever wished to go back in time to make things right? Subaru Natsuki is a hikikomori (some one who stays home and is anti-social) who was transported into The Kingdom of Lugnica (isekai). Just moments after arriving, he was killed by an assassin named Elsa. However, instead of dying, he is teleported back to the same place. After dying multiple times, Subaru learns that he actually goes back in time every time he dies, and that he is capable of manipulating the events to make the overall outcome better. While this seems like a blessing, Subaru still feels the pain before dying and is cursed to remember all the horrors that had happened. In this anime, Subaru uses his power to save the people he loves. Is Subaru truly selfless, or simply selfish? I strongly recommend Re: Zero for multiple reasons. There are many surprises and twists along Subaru’s journey as he tries to save as many lives as possible. It is interesting to watch the mind games Subaru has to play in order to find his success. While the first season focuses on how Subaru uses his power, the second season delves into the character and character development of Subaru, and Emilia, as well as formally introducing the seven witches.
2) Sword Art Online
Sword Art Online has probably caused the most number of controversies. The reason why this anime is on the list is because of how this anime has influenced many anime makers into creating an “isekai gaming” genre. Also, this anime has sparked countless of other similar like anime where the protagonist is stuck in a gaming world after putting on a full dive VR head gear. In my opinion, this anime is best watched with subtitles, instead of the English dubbed version. Today, there are multiple other SAO anime, and the anime even sells its own merch separate from the other animes. SAO is ranked fourth in popularity in MAL, and the anime is re-watched multiple times. Definitely an OP mc kind of anime, however (slight spolier: there are ups and downs for the protagonist as well). A must watch anime for all.
Konosuba: God’s Blessing on this wonderful world, is an isekai anime which is ranked 34 in popularity in MAL. The reason the anime comes top in this list is due to 2 main reasons. Firstly, the anime features certain elements that are more realistic in the storyline, which also brings joy and laughter to us viewers. Secondly, there are countless of radio programs that feature the voice actresses when making of this anime. It is one of the animes where there is more publicity and a chance where you will get to meet and greet the Voice actresses Takahashi Rie and Fukushima Jun. There are also countless of other merch and games based on this anime making more hype for the anime as well. This anime is among strongly recommend for your pleasure (use english subtitles), and do remember to subscribe for more interesting content. 😁
The list above judges Isekai Animes after the release of Winter Animes on 2021.
The spring 2021 season was full of many interesting series. Since the season is coming to an end, I would like to share my opinion on some of the series which I think you should watch.
Here are my opinions on this season’s anime series that I have watched. My ratings are mostly with regards to the storyline, as well as different presentation aspects of the anime. Unless the visuals or audio are subpar, I would not mention it. Spoilers will not be included.
Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? EN: So I’m a Spider, So What? Number of episodes: 24 My rating: 6 MAL rating: 7.32
Synopsis: Isekai. The genre that is now in its peak, spewing out the most random of topics. In this anime, a school blows up, killing everyone. Most students get reborn as humans. On the contrary, our protagonist is a girl who got reborn as a spider. Being one of the millions of hatchlings, she must get stronger to survive. To achieve this, she does the most sensible thing any protagonist does — eat anything and everything in sight.
My opinions: The fight scenes were epic and the character’s strategies are well thought out (not the “bonk and the enemies are dead” strategy). The plot is very interesting and the lore is very deep. The anime shows kumoko’s growth in great detail. Despite her already being very strong, there are opponents that are equal in strength or stronger that she has to face. This makes the fights more exhilarating. However, the progress of the story is very slow, and poorly juggles between the spider’s arc and the humans’ arc (her classmates). Even after 23 episodes, there was still no interactions between kumoko and the hero. It should have had two separate animes for the separate arcs, and a third one when the two storylines merged. This would allow the viewers to appreciate the separate arcs instead of being bored out by one arc because they want to see the other. In addition, there is no depiction of any bonds between the characters and little character development (only skill development). For example, kumoko only kills and consumes enemies to level up, evolve and gain skills. In the human’s arc, it starts out as a slice of life, then the heroes run for their life before being thrown into an all out war. Even the lore of the admins is not well explained. All in all, a good series that turned bad due to poor presentation.
Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! EN: Combatants Will Be Dispatched! Number of episodes: 12 My rating: 7 MAL rating: 7.27
Synopsis: Combatant Roku-gou is a chief operative at the evil Kisaragi Corporation. He was ordered to infiltrate the Kingdom of Grace — an operation that could change the fate of the world. To help him with his mission, a state of the art android called Alice Kisaragi was also dispatched to follow him. After infiltrating, he helps Kingdom of Grace fight the Demon Lord’s Army. Kisaragi Corporation has an evil points system. When combatants commit evil deeds, they gain evil points that can be exchanged for powerful weapons. To help with his mission, he commits many evil yet hilarious acts to accumulate evil points.
My opinions: When I first started watching, I watched it for the main plot. However, after a few episodes, I watched it for the multitude of ridiculous things Roku-gou does to gain evil points. Most of his actions to obtain evil points are actually childish or perverted, which can come up to either being very funny or a huge facepalm. His synergy with his teammates also make the anime funnier. In the comedic aspect, it is quite similar to KonoSuba. Overall, this anime is quite entertaining.
Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Love Comedy EN: Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose Number of episodes: 12 My rating: 6.5 MAL rating: 6.38
Synopsis: Are you tired of all the rom-coms where the childhood friend always never ends up with the protagonist? Well look no further for this is the anime for you. Suehara Maru is best friends with Kuroha Shida since their childhood. Kuroha is one of the most popular girls in Hozumino High School, with many boys begging to be with her. However, when she confesses to Suehara, he flat out rejected her. He had already set his sights on his first love — Shirokusa Kachi. However, when he found out that Shiro already has a boyfriend, he confesses to Kuroha, who flat out rejected him out of revenge. They then proceeded to regret what they have done. Afterwards, Kuroha tries to win Suehara’s heart again, but faces competition from two other girls.
My opinions: While this anime lives up to the comedy genre, it certainly is lacking a little in the romance department despite being a rom-com. Furthermore, there isn’t much balance of the romance and comedy, with comedy being the focus of the first half, and switching to romance in the second half of the anime. While there are quite a few twists, the biggest twist is with regard to the title of the anime. This anime gives the feels of awkward teens doing awkward teen stuff. Overall, this anime seems boring and lacks the substance usually found in rom-coms. The juicy part only starts to appear after half of the season has passed.
Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken EN: The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Number of episodes: 12 My rating: 8 MAL rating: 7.56
Synopsis: Tensura nikki is a slice of life series from the main series — Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (EN: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) Each episode has a theme which depicts the various activities that go on in the Jura Tempest Federation. With less fighting and more focus on side characters and bonds between different characters, Tensura nikki becomes very lively.
My opinions: Firstly, I should mention that skipping Tensura nikki does not mean missing out on the main plot. However, I would still recommend you to watch Tensura nikki. In tensura nikki, there is more air time for side characters such as Milim, Geld and Treyni, as well as the dwarves and some humans (Youm, Rommel etc.). Tensura nikki also clearly shows the deep bonds between characters that may not be depicted in the original series. Last but not least, Tensura nikki manages to balance the wide cast, not focusing too much on Rimuru and the other main characters, but not neglecting them either. The only downside is that there isn’t a hook to keep you waiting for the next episode in anticipation. Additionally, amongst the other great animes this season with great plot and hooks, it became easy to forget when the next episode dropped.
Boku no Hero Academia 5th Season (The first half) EN: My Hero Academia Number of episodes: 25 My rating: 8.5 MAL rating: 7.57
Synopsis: The first half if BNHA is a mock battle arc, where class 1-A and class 1-B compete against each other. They form teams of four, and the group who captures all of the opposing team’s members first wins.
My opinions: While this season seems to be of a slower pace, it has very detailed fight scenes that show character growth compared to when they first joined. They also explore the fighting styles and synergy of each team, both from A class and B class. Overall, it is what you would expect from the BNHA series.
Mairimashita! Iruma-kun 2nd Season (The first half) EN: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun 2nd Season Number of episodes: 21 My rating: 8.5 MAL rating: 8.03
Synopsis: Iruma is a human happily living amongst demons in the demon realm whilst hiding his true identity. Recently, the Magical Apparatus Battler was temporarily dismissed due to having insufficient club members. As such, Iruma was forced to join the student council. The student council is known to be very strict. How will Iruma cope? After this arc, Iruma entered his evil cycle. What would he achieve?
My opinions: This anime is really enjoyable. I highly recommend it. The challenges he faces are quite hard to overcome, but he achieves the impossible through logical and practical means. The comedy aspect is on point.
Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou Desu EN: The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent Number of episodes: 12 My rating: 8.5 MAL rating: 7.32
Synopsis: In the past, the people of Salutania have lived within a shroud of miasma, a force that summons creatures, wrecking the peaceful world. The Order of Knights were pushed to their limits, and at wits end, the Grand Magus summons a holy maiden—the legendary “Saint”—to purify the catastrophe.
The faithful evening comes, Sei Takanashi, was pulled into a foreign world (isekai). Upon her arrival to the kingdom of Salutania, she learns that the Grand Magus inadvertently summoned two Saints—Sei along with a brown-haired girl. Needing only one holy maiden, the prince declares the other girl as the Saint, leaving Sei to her own devices. As she tries to adapt to the new world, Sei sets her sights on entering Medicinal Flora Research Institute, a well known establishment admired for its studies regarding herbs and potions. Indulging in her new found passion, Sei has a fateful encounter with the commander of the Third Order of Knights. But little does she know, her aptitude as a Saint was still highly sought after, influencing over her only passion.
My opinions: The saint isekai has the perfect balance between isekai, magic and romance. We can clearly see how Sei develops the ability to use her powers, as well as her relationships with all the other characters. They have also handled the slice of life very well. Unlike other slice of life animes where there is no link between episodes and little to no character development, the saint isekai shows clear character development while keeping the slice of life aspects. They show the day to day life of Sei, while still linking the activities to the main storyline. Even the filler episode deepens the lore.
Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou EN: Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway Number of episodes: 13 Rated R+ — Mild Nudity My rating: 9 MAL rating: 7.57
Synopsis: Yoshida is a 26 year old salaryman working for a major IT company. One day, he decides to confess to his boss and longtime crush, Gotou, but ends up getting rejected. Heartbroken, he went to a bar with his great friend, Hashimoto, to drink his feelings out. Afterwards, he heads home drunk, where he encounters Sayu Ogiwara, a runaway highschool student. Sayu asked Yoshida to let her stay at his place for the night, to which Yoshida agreed in his drunken state.
Before I continue, I should put up a warning first. This anime explores social issues that Japan is currently facing. (Specifically children growing up without a parental figure and child abuse.) It covers dark themes which some may consider disturbing. (Specifically child abuse, prostitution and suicide.) My rating is given based off the story, not the dark themes. I do not support child abuse, prostitution or suicide.
My opinions: I gave this anime a high score because we can see the character’s develop, their troubles, emotions and thought processes in each situation they face. This allows us to understand their situation and their past. Most importantly, higehiro shows how they feel about each other. It really makes you empathize for each character (and especially for Sayu). “The finest men have the highest of standards.” Yoshida is indeed the finest man in this anime, choosing to take care of Sayu as if he were her father. In a sense, Yoshida tries to makes things right as much as he practically can. Afterall, an adult male living with an unrelated and much younger female definitely rings the mental alarm in many. What I like is how Yoshida handles every situation lawfully and practically. He has a great sense of responsibility and care for the people around him.
These are the Animes I recommend you to watch for Spring 2021. If you do enjoy these contents, please do share and subscribe to our blog.😁
